refined conifer in the forest, they do have a unique trait. You see, the jack pine is a serotinous tree, which means it needs an environmental trigger to reseed. This is often in the form of the intense heat found in a forest fire. The heat from the flames opens the cones and releases the seeds ensuring that the first tree to take root after a forest fire is the jack pine. This fits well with our story because when Jack Pine Brewery opened in January of 2013, it was the first brewery in the Brainerd Lakes Area since
Or namesake may be scrappy,
but our beers certainly aren’t.
